The aim of the congress is to further academic and scientific discussion on the themes of language, culture, immigration, religion, literature and translation in the geographical areas of Brazil, Portugal and Greater China.
Crossings was first held from 28 to 30 January at the University of Macau with the title "Macau Crossings: Translation and Cultures in Contact". The congress focussed on the academic and scientific interfaces in the areas of language, culture, immigration, religion, literature and translation.
